Matariki Glow Show

This week the Puriri team took a bus ride to a special Matariki show! It was held in a real theatre and it was very entertaining. The show involved some skilled puppeteering with amazing puppets which glowed in the dark under special lights. It was a lot of fun.

Caught Being Good - Daerue

Daerue was our Caught Being Good winner this week. He has worked so hard to learn ALL 20 of the Kiwi-a-thon facts, and he is always diligent with his reading log, reading at home every night.

Nice one Daerue, keep up your great learning.

Matariki is Coming

For the next two weeks, Room 19 is going to be learning a lot about Matariki, the festival also known as the Maori New Year. We will be reading about it in class and doing lots of other exciting activities, some involving food!

We also have our visit to the Matariki Light Show scheduled for June 26th. Get your permission slips back soon.

School Certificate - Ina

Ina was our special Green Day class certificate winner. She knows lots about being an excellent kaitiaki of our local environment.

She has lots of great ideas for others to be good guardians too.

Kiwi-a-thon Week

Week 7 is Kiwi-a-thon at Owairaka. Puriri children have 20 facts about New Zealand and Te Reo Maori to learn at home (there will be no regular homework for this week).
