School Certificate: Madalin

What a good week from Madalin - your confidence has got so great in class, and you are keen to share ideas in your group and in front of the whole class.

You also learnt some sign language skills so you could contribute to Philosophy lessons, even when you weren't speaking!

Our Community Gardens Trip

On Monday, with the assistance of the amazing Heather, Room 19 took a trip to the Community Gardens on Hendon Rd.

We cooked omelettes, did planting and weeding, watered lots of garden beds, and threw 'seed bombs' onto empty land with the aim of growing beautiful wildflowers.

We loved our time outside the school, and can't wait to visit the gardens again next term.

Parent Survey

We want to hear your thoughts!

Please complete this quick questionnaire about learning with digital technologies.

Background: Owairaka has been on a journey of incorporating digital resources into a range of teaching approaches.  We aim for a blended environment where staff and students have the option to choose the best resources for the learning at the time, whether it is digital or otherwise.

Ako Hiko: Is a cluster of eight schools who work together to create equity, raise achievement and offer opportunities to all our learners. The basis of the learning is the Learn, Create and Share learning model.

Research: The Woolf Fisher Trust, a research arm of the University of Auckland, send out these annual questionnaires to give feedback to the cluster about how the digital environment helps to learn.  Woolf Fisher collects data from Year 4-6 parents as some of the other cluster schools have digital devices for all ages. The feedback we get from this survey will be specific to Owairaka as well as from the whole cluster.

We would appreciate if you could do this quick survey by Friday 24th May.

Caught Being Good: Carlos

Nice one Carlos - you were our Caught Being Good winner this week. You have made excellent progress with your reading and are confident when talking and sharing ideas with your group.

You have also been working really hard at maths problem solving, by looking for the equations hidden in story questions.

What a great example for your classmates.
