Amelia Ellicott's Garden

Do you remember this story? We read it in term one. Amelia Ellicott has lived in the same house for many years, during which time the neighbourhood has changed dramatically. A crisis moves the situation from one where Amelia and her neighbours are seperate and lonely, to one where they work together, care for one another, and share their lives.

Your task: share this story with your family, and discuss these questions together:

 - Why didn't Amelia share her garden with her neighbours?
- Should neighbours share?
- Do you have to know someone to be a neighbour?
- What does it mean to be neighbourly?

Remember, no wrong answers, so long as you use the word "because".

  2. This sounds like a great book Sam. I can see that Stella enjoyed it so I may borrow it from you later this term.
