Race Relations Day - March 20
Race Relations day is always special at Owairaka. It is a chance for children to share a little about themselves and their family, and also to recognise and learn about the homelands and special places of other children. We celebrated with an assembly, and stunning parade of costumes in the morning. This was followed by a massive, diverse shared lunch between all the children at school. Thanks Mrs Kapisi for organising such an important day, and thanks children for your participation and respect for others.
Mala was our class award winner, for her inclusiveness and care for all others in Room 6 and around the school, and for her great Sri Lankan costume. Wilson spoke to the school in Chinese Mandarin.
