Puriri EOTC

Room 19 and the rest of the Puriri team had a great time learning outside the classroom this week. We took part in a range of different activities, including:

visual orienteering

bandage and sling first aid

adventure/team based games

BBQ cooking

tent building

burma trail.

Even though it was a bit rainy, we enjoyed our time outside and learnt some valuable skills. Thank you to the teachers and parents who made this exciting opportunity possible.

School Certificate - Leo and Peter

Room 19 enjoyed taking part in the 21 Day Challenge with the Young Ocean Explorers in term one. We collected 524 pieces of plastic!

Leo and Peter spent lots of their free time being guardians of our school environment, and together they kept over 200 pieces of plastic out of our drains.

Great kaitiakitanga, boys!

Duffy Assembly - Michel Mulipola

Owairaka School had a special visitor for our Duffy Role Model Assembly this week.

Michel Mulipola is a comic book illustrator and professional wrestler. He talked to us about using our creativity in different ways, especially through drawing!

We know about how reading is so important to us, but it was extra amazing to have someone who has been so successful in following their dreams come and remind us about the amazing world of books and comics (and wrestling).
