Learning about Lifejackets

 

As part of our water safety sessions we learnt about the proper and safe use of lifejackets in the water. We have practised scenarios for both the ocean and rivers.

Thanks to the awesome coaches for giving us so many useful tips.

Maddy drew a Bryde's whale and recreated the length of one on her driveway!

Lilou has done lots of learning about Bryde's Whale, and has also measured the number of steps to her letterbox!

Tino pai, Gyzharn and Jennia, our first school certificate winners of 2021.

Gyzharn, thank you for sharing your knowledge and love of Te Reo Maori with your classmates and teacher, we are learning lots from you.

Jennia, you are an awesome example of a model learner, with your empathy for others and your responsibility with your learning.

Batfirst Cricket - A new skill for Year 3!

 

Room 19 and the Year 3 team had the opportunity to have a lesson from Auckland Cricket during our second week at school. 

We learnt some new skills, and we each got a shiny new purple bat to take home to practise with!

In Our Backyard - Topic Learning in Term One

 

Nau mai haere mai, welcome to the 2021 school year! 

Our theme at school for this year is 'Ín Our Backyard'. All classes at Owairaka will decide where to go with this big idea!

We will begin with a social focus on how we fit in to, and contribute to the various communities in our lives, from our whanau, to our class, school, local area, city, nation and the Pacific.
