Wednesday this week saw Room 19 visit the home gardens of our friend Paula.
We completed three activities, including:
- planting seeds,
- a scavenger hunt,
- a guided tour of the vegetable gardens.
Thanks so much Paula for welcoming us into your gardens. We learnt so much and it was exciting to explore more of our local area.
This week in class, Room 19 has been learning about water access around the world. It made us realise that the easy access we have is not the same for others in different countries.
Well done Alex for doing thoughtful research and sharing some interesting water saving tips in your flipbook.
Room 19 enjoyed Green Week, and dressing up in Blue and Green for our special assembly on Friday.
Ka pai Tyson, you were recognised for your interesting and well researched efforts with home learning this year.
Some of the things Tyson has taught Room 19 about include - blood, plums, jellyfish, humans, faces and India.
Keep up the excellent work, Tyson.
Road Safety Week is about encouraging families to think about how they can help everyone have safe and active journeys to and from school. Parking away from the school and walking in helps keep the area outside the school safer for students. Walking, biking and scootering is a great way to add exercise into your week! Please remember to use the crossings, it may take an extra minute or two but it is another way we can help you to stay safe.
The children in Room 19 are all preparing for performances in the Eden Albert Cultural Festival. This exciting event will be held on Saturday 28 November.
Keep an eye out for a notice with more information from your child's Cultural Group tutor, sometime over the next couple of weeks.
At our most recent Puriri Assembly, Sibley and Luke won the certificates for Caught Being Good in Room 19.
Sibley has been a model learner and friend in her time at Owairaka. We will miss having her around as she moves to a new school.
Luke has done a great job of learning about what it takes to be a great learner at Owairaka. He is already a valued member of Room 19, and a full participant in all of our discussions and activities.
