School Certificate: Manny (& Joe)

Congratulations to Manny - our certificate winner at our first School Assembly in a looooong time!

Manny has made some excellent progress in Reading and Maths this term, we even had to send him to see our maths guru, Mrs Bhatia, so she could enjoy his great work!

Ka pai also to Joe, who was spotted picking up rubbish on his way to school. Joe takes the Walking School Bus most days, a great way to get safely to Owairaka.

Caught Being Good - Noah and Lee-Michael

Ka pai Noah and Lee-Michael, you are the first Caught Being Good certificate winners after the school holidays.

Noah has been trying really hard to talk about his own learning, and be responsible in class. Lee-Michael is always looking for ways to challenge himself with his learning.

Well done boys, keep up the great effort.

Philosophy for the Holidays

Here are some philosophy questions to have a think about over the school holidays.

Watch this story, "Miss Lily's Fabulous Pink Feather Boa". and then talk about the following questions.

Remember to use the word 'because' to help justify your thoughts.

 Theme: feeling good
The Potoroo, who didn't appear to feel too good about herself, felt better when she wore Miss Lily's feather boa.

1) Can what you wear make you feel good?
2) Can what someone says to you change how you feel about yourself?
3) Is it ever okay to not feel good?
4) Is there a difference betwee feeling good and being good?
5) Is it only when you have felt bad that you know what it's like to feel good?

Celebrating Matariki

Room 19 worked with our Kauri buddy class (Room 6) to complete this awesome collaborative art, on display in the foyer outside our classroom.

One of the ways to celebrate Matariki is by enjoying time with friends. We like visiting our buddy class each week.

You can find out more about Matariki at the Stardome Auckland website.
