Farewell Mrs Faleva'ai

This week we farewelled Mrs Neta Faleva'ai. Mrs Faleva'ai has been at Owairaka School since 1990. In that time she has taught over 800 children! She has shared her love of her country, Samoa.

Mrs Faleva'ai has been a great teacher, colleague, and friend to so many. Room 19 and the Puriri team will miss you lots.

Fa'afetai.

We visit the Owairaka Community Gardens

It was a great day for our first visit to the Owairaka Community Gardens this year. It was cloudy, but it didn't rain until we were almost back at school.

Here are some of the activities we helped our friends Heather and Richard to do:
- plant new strawberry, lavender, parsley, lemongrass
- look after harakeke flax plants
- collect Jerusalem artichokes
- prepare and cook a delicious, warm rhubarb stew
- weed and tidy nine garden beds

We are looking forward to visiting again during term three.

Thanks to our super adult helpers who came along to help us out (Fay, Simon, Ruby, and Nia).

Caught Being Good - Alex and Stella

Ka pai Alex and Stella - these learners were recognised for their excellent effort and attitude to learning since returning to school.

Alex has made great progress with his understanding of how multiplication works, and Stella has shown great confidence when sharing ideas and listening to others.

Keep it up you two!
