Planet Art with Balloons

Room 19 learners recently completed these stunning pieces of art - by dipping a balloon into their own choice of paints, and then adding lots of ideas from our topic around their great looking planets!

Thanks to Lou for helping the children to get so creative with the process!

ANZAC Ceremony at Owairaka

ANZAC day is a special day of remembrance for all New Zealanders and Australians. Today, the Puriri team remembered the brave soldiers who were part of the First World War, in particular the Owairaka students who went to war.

Thank you to Ms Tuipulotu who organised for every Owairaka learner to wear their very own poppy.

Puriri Pupuhi Nui 2019

Congratulations to all the children who took part in the Puriri team "Pupuhi Nui" (Big Splash) for 2019.

It was great to see all the skills we have learnt over term one be put into action, in some exciting and challenging events.

Water confidence is a big part of growing up in New Zealand, so thank you to all the parents who encouraged and reminded their children to have togs at school often during term one.

The school pool will reopen in term four.

Puriri Outdoor Education

Puriri team is in the middle of two days of Outdoor Education - we are spending time up our local maunga (Owairaka), as well as around school - doing a range of activities from tent building, obstacle course, orienteering, burma trail, scavenger hunt, to ropes and knots.

Here are some photos of Room 19 children on day 1 - building tents - some of us even trying it with blindfolds on!

Thanks to all the wonderful parents and adult helpers who came with us.
