Music Story (Legend of Ureia) with Janina

Monday mornings in Room 19 this term have been very interesting! We have been so lucky to have Janina (Parker's mum) in class with us. She has been retelling the legend of Ureia, and we have been helping by adding our body movements, voices, and experimentation with instruments to add to the drama of the story!

It is so exciting to have Janina with us, we are looking forward to sharing some of our artwork, drama, and music soon.

Caught Being Good: Finley

Congratulations Finley - you showed Manawanuitanga while practising for the Weet-Bix TRYathlon. Room 19 was super proud of you when we heard about your efforts at the event on Sunday. What a super way to challenge yourself.

Our Gardening Trip

On Green Week, Room 19 and Room 12 went to Owai park for a gardening trip. One of the jobs was making wasp traps. Another was weeding and mulching the gardens.

Caught Being Good: Rose

Room 19 has been learning about the traditional Maori tale of Ureia, who saved Marama's grandfather from a savage storm. We tried to turn some of the words from the story and act them out using our bodies and voice.

Well done Rose - you confidently shared some creative ways to make the story interesting with drama!

School Certificate: Amani

Part of our Green Week was learning about sustainable ways to travel to school. We know that walking, biking/scootering or catching the bus whenever we can are great ways to get around. 

Amani shows that he is Travelwise by walking to school every day! What a great example for others Amani, keep it up.

Happy Green Week & Sea Week from Room 19

Room 19 has had a Green Week full of learning about the Sea and our local community gardens. Everyone who dressed up on Friday in either green or blue looked fantastic!

Well done to Jessica and Khaalid, who won prizes for walking and biking to school.
