Trip to Mangere Mountain

Some of our Room Six children were excited to take part in the Whanau Group's trip to Mangere Mountain last week.

It was an action packed day, with lessons about the history of the maunga, a super long walk, making poi, and working together to make traditional kites.

Thanks Mr Bennett for an awesome experience!

Daffodil Day in Room Six

Farewell from the Aquatic Centre!

We have now finished swimming lessons at Mt Albert pools. What a great time we had there - we learnt some essential and valuable skills to help stay happy and safe in the water, and we had so much fun doing it.

Thanks to the awesome instructors who helped us during our lessons.

School Certificate: Zion-Li

Well done Zion-Li. You are a great learner in Room 6. You have kept trying with some of the new maths learning we are doing in class, which is all about finding repeating patterns.

What a great role model for your classmates. Miharo!

Visiting our School Library

We are visiting the school library every Monday this term - lucky us! Have a look at the librarians blog here for some of the displays that are currently up around the library.

Our Netball Stars

Congratulations to super talented sports girls, Emacyn and Joyce, who represented Owairaka at the zone netball tournament last week.

The girls both played really well, and the team even won a game!

Reading in Room Six - weeks 3-6

Dear Parents,

We have had a super exciting, and busy, start to term three. Because of this, you would have noticed that some children (not all) have bought home the same School Journal for weeks 3 and 4.

This will be happening again over weeks 5 and 6.

We are using the reading time we do have in class to explore these journals in our reading groups. We will return to a normal program (1 journal per week) in week 7.

Many thanks, Mr Lyons

Happy Cook Island Language Week!

Last week was Cook Island language week. Have a look at the awesome display our student and teacher librarians have up on the library wall.

Caught Being Good: Neena

Caught being a great mathematician - Neena. You have been a super times table learner this year, and you are now using some of this knowledge to help your problem solving group.

Keep up the great learning!

Swimming in Term 3

Swimming has begun - Room 6 has been going to the Mount Albert Aquatic Centre this week, and had some very exciting lessons with some awesome instructors!

We are learning floating, breathing, freestyle, and backstroke. Parents and adults are most welcome to come along and see the action.
