Race Relations Day 2017
Owairaka school was a rainbow of colours this Friday, as we celebrated Race Relations Day with the theme of "Unity".
We had a parade in the morning, where every child shared their cultural costume on the stage.
Later in the day, the WHOLE SCHOOL got together for an amazing, delicious shared lunch (feast).
Thanks so much to Jane (Zoe C's mum) who shared the story of William Tell and a bit of Swiss history with Room 6. We were hanging on every word of your retelling!
Check out pictures of our cultural costumes here...

Caught Being Good: Raksha
Raksha was our Caught Being Good winner this week. She was spotted being a responsible and helpful gardener when we worked at the Community Gardens on Monday. What a great example for others Raksha, well done.
Room 6 - Community Gardens
Room 6 spent Monday morning helping out in our Community Gardens. We helped our friend Heather from the eco-neighbourhood to dig holes for new swan plants, weed and mulch some garden beds, and check out all the insect activity in the Bug Hotel we installed in term four last year!

- Keane was our class certificate winner today, for being organised and thoughtful in learning time.
We are learning about screen printing
Have a look at the awesome results from our screen printing activity this week. We kept Green Week in mind and collected leaves from outside, before we learnt all about the art process.
Thanks to our awesome helper Paula for encouraging us to be so creative!
