Our exciting Wednesday Walker adventure
For our final Wednesday Walker adventure of the year - we took a walk to the new bridge over the South Western motorway. We were excited to walk a new route, and had heaps of fun crossing high over the motorway.
Wednesday Walkers will be back next year!
Caught Being Good: Arlo
Room Six moved to a new room on Monday. It was a crazy day, so we talked about showing "initiative" when moving all of our resources. Well done to Arlo, who was an excellent, energetic helper.

Caught Being Good: Tamati
We have had a super busy few weeks practicing for the Eden Albert Cultural Festival. Children have worked with their tutors twice each week to put together some amazing group dances and songs.
One Room Six student who really stood out during practices was Tamati, who persisted in an activity that he wasn't sure about to begin with. You were great on the day Tamati.

School Certificate: Emacyn
We had our final Community Gardening trip for 2017 during Green Week, and it was great to see the energy and enthusiasm Room Six attacked the overgrown beds with, after an extremely long and wet winter.
Well done Emacyn - who got particularly grubby hands digging and raking a whole lot of garden beds!

We had a great day in the sun at Puriri Athletics last Friday. There was some close competition for places, and some excellent support and encouragement of classmates.
One person who competed well AND showed a great sense of fair play was Brandon - well done to you!

Caught Being Good: Bruno
Great start to term 4 Bruno - you were showing that you were ready for learning from the very first block on Monday morning. You had some useful times table strategies to help solve some very tricky maths questions with your group.

Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week
Take a look at some of these photos of Room Six, who worked together to make our local area a nicer place to be this Keep NZ Beautiful Week.
It was great to collect 11 full bags of rubbish. But it was also sad that we collected so much waste from such a small area, we were within sight of Owairaka School the whole time.
Zoe C's dad gave us a demonstration of how the rat bait stations work around the maunga.
It was really special for us all to make it to the top of Owairaka (Mt Albert) and check out the awesome views.
Thanks to all the super parents who gave up their time to come along and be part of our clean up day.

Kahawai
A School Journal story - set in the post apocalyptic future, after all the computers have crashed and life is hard, a grandmother and her mokopuna row a dinghy out to salvage materials they can sell. They catch a live kahawai which is both a great surprise and of real value. They decide to put it back.
Tuatara reading group had to write a 'diary entry' about what they would do in this problematic environment. Here are some of their efforts...
Today I will go into that polluted ocean and pick up all of the rubbish in it. Today I will also go into the ocean and try to start breeding new fish in the ocean.
In the afternoon I will go onto the land and ask some people to plant trees on the land with me.
We would try to get rid of some of the flooding water.
I would ask some people to help me make some containers and we would have a massive clean up.
We would try to make some new cars.
It would be hard but our team will try.

This morning I woke up in a shed, because I live in one.
I went out for breakfast, I had mudcakes and they were yum!
Then, I went to clean the ocean with Olly. Olly will help me put the rubbish from the sea in the bin. I really want to go out on a boat and put more fish in the sea.
Next, I went to go and plant some more trees with Bruno.

I woke up and rushed down the stairs and and made myself a small breakfast of mud fritters.I was super excited, today i was going to try clean up the place. I planted more trees and picked up lots of rubbish and fish junk out of the water. At the end of the day I felt great. if everyone did the same, the country would get cleaned up in no time.

Apocalyptic Auckland
I find myself in apocaliptic Auckland. I would hate to live (blabbering) no animals. I’d make a society to clean rubbish , dig for seeds and save fish. I would search and search for clean water, stone forts for homes. I wish i had an ipad . I really hate dead leaves for breakfast. Whew it's hot, especially my hand (fire noise’s) ahhhhhh my hand is on fire!!!!

I am kid in the future Auckland. Every day I breed fish to make more fish. At about 10.00am I go out to sea and pick up rubbish so the baby fish don’t die.In the afternoon I go back to land and I dig for seeds to plant a forest to make the animals come back. Then I go back home and eat noodles for dinner. Well, they were noodles, now they are fried worms!
