Week 4 Winners

Congratulations Alyzae for your effort and attitude to learning in Room 6 2016. Alyzae is on time for school and is ready for each lesson. She is polite and uses good manners with adults, and always has time to help others.

Congratulations also to Tasfia, who won the Academic Award from Mrs Bhatia and R12 in 2015. Tasfia was in Bangladesh on Prizegiving day, so yesterday was very special as she finally got her certificate and book!

Well done girls.

Room 6 watches honey being extracted - 25/2/16

Room 6 went down to the school kitchen this morning, to see some honey being extracted from the school bee hive. Some of us had a turn with the extracting machine. Ms Best did some recount writing with the class when we had finished.

Tomorrow we are going to eat some honey sandwiches!

Swimming in Term One

Room 6 has been swimming almost every day. On Monday and Tuesday we get to the pool early in the morning for our lessons with three great swimming teachers.

This week is water safety week, where we learnt lots about
      - life guarding and rescuing;
      - rip currents at the beach;
      - and how to wear a lifejacket.

Rooms 6 and 22 - shape art

Room 6 did their first buddy class learning with the awesome Room 22 recently. We did creative art using geometric shapes. We were allowed to create any picture we wanted while we work with our buddy.

Check out some of the photos from our visits to R22 in Week 3. They will be displayed in the library soon!

Being Organised - Puriri Assembly winners!

Mozart (left) and Charlie (right) have had a great start to 2016 by being prepared for their learning.

Mozart brings his book bag and fills in his reading log.

Charlie manages his time really well in class. He is on time, and uses class resources to help him with his learning.

Well done boys - awesome start!

Excellent manners - well done Fila

Owairaka's school focus at the beginning of 2016 has been on using manners. Fila is a super role model for others in room six and for everyone around the school. Fila uses polite greetings with everyone and is thoughtful when he talks to other people. Keep it up Fila, what a great start to your year!

Room Six celebrates.

Weeks 3/4 2016: Organisation

Goodbye Klukky - 10 Feb 2016

Owairaka lost a special friend during week 2. Room Six and friends care for three school chickens; Klukky, Turbo, and Butter Chicken.

Last week Klukky got a tummy infection which really hurt, and she didn't survive.

Heaps of children at school love seeing and working with the chickens, so it was sad to say goodbye.

Room 6 and some of our friends from other classes said farewell on Friday morning.

Thanks for being part of our great school at Owairaka Klukky.

Congratulations - Oliver and Farhan

Olly and Farhan worked hard last year to get their reading logs completed. So, at the first school assembly in 2016, they were recognised for their excellent reading efforts with a certificate. Well done boys, we want all of Room 6 to be getting one of these this year.
